Officers said her name was "Mikayla," though the exact spelling is unknown
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) - Eugene police are searching for an ER nurse who was at the scene of a serious crash on Highway 18 and helped save a driver's life in mid-November, according to officials.
Officers responded to the head-on crash near the Willamina Junction on Nov. 16 where Deputy Chief Shawn Adams said he was assisted by a woman named "Mikayla," though the exact spelling of her name is unknown.
"As we began the care for the driver there is a moment of conversation between Mikayla and I to determine who has the higher level of training and in the best position to provide the primary care," Adams said. "This is how I learned Mikalya's name and that she is an ER Nurse."
However, the woman left the scene before she could be identified by emergency responders.
"Mikalya was amazing. I believe she may have saved this driver's life," Adams said. "At a minimum, I know her efforts positively impacted this driver and she needs to be recognized for the skill, effort and compassion she displayed for the 30 or so minutes we were inside this crushed Prius while firefighters were cutting the roof off the car."
Authorities encourage anyone with information about this "good Samaritan" to contact the Eugene Police Department.
