Man accused of robbing Newington gas station at knifepoint on Christmas Day

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Bristol man was charged Wednesday in connection to an armed robbery at a Cumberland Farms on Christmas Day, according to Newington police.

Dylan Martin, 32, was charged with second-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, and failure to pay or plea.

Police said the incident happened at the Cumberland Farms at 724 Cedar Street around 7:56 p.m.

Officers were dispatched after store employees reported a man with a knife had just robbed the store and fled on foot.

Newington police used K9 Ray to track Martin to the CTfastrak busway. He ran from officers when confronted, but officers and the K9 were able to take him into custody after a brief chase, police said.

Martin was given a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Dec. 26.
