Timbers sign veteran winger Ariel Lassiter

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Portland Timbers have signed veteran free agent winger Ariel Lassiter to a contract through the 2026 season, with a club option for 2027, the team announced Monday.

Lassiter will be entering his 11th MLS season in 2025, having logged 149 regular season appearances with 76 starts with the LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo, Inter Miami, CF Montreal and Chicago Fire over the span.

"Ari is someone I've worked with before. He's got a great attitude and will enhance the culture within the team," said Timbers Head Coach Phil Neville. "He has incredible speed and will be a big asset to our roster. I'm very pleased to have him as part of our group this year."

The 30-year-old has scored 12 goals and logged 15 assists over his MLS career, which began with the Galaxy in 2015.

He began his professional career in Sweden in 2014, and has also played professionally in his native country of Costa Rica.

Lassiter has made 32 appearances, including 17 starts, for the Costa Rican national team, making his debut with the senior team in 2019.

The Timbers kick-off the 2025 regular season campaign on Feb. 23 against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Providence Park. The club will be celebrating their 50th season as a franchise.
