One person has died after a fire broke out Wednesday at a home in Decatur, authorities said.

The fire erupted Wednesday afternoon near Olive Street SE and 16th Avenue, according to Decatur police.

A police spokesperson could not immediately be reached for more information.

Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn told AL.com that one person died in the fire and that their body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for examination.
